A heater controller. A top-off controller. A dosing station. A CO2 computer. A wave pump controller. A light programmer. A "smart" power strip. An energy meter. Separate power supplies, separate apps, separate failures.

Oquari replaces them all — with one coherent system in which every function knows about the others. Feeding the fish? The wave pumps pause on their own. Water change in progress? Heaters and UV protect themselves. Power outage? When it returns, everything comes back up in a safe order.
Automatic water change

No more buckets. Really.

Here's a feature almost no controller on the market offers: Oquari changes your aquarium's water for you. You enter one number — how many liters per week — and the controller splits it into small portions changed around the clock: it drains an amount measured by a flow meter, waits for the level to stabilize, and refills exactly what was removed.

  • Stable parameters instead of a weekly shock — frequent micro-portions don't budge temperature, salinity or pH. Your livestock never even notices a water change is happening.
  • Saltwater done right: a saltwater mixing reservoir filled from the RO membrane, mixed and salted automatically — with a salinity probe verifying the result before a single drop reaches the reef. Pure RO water will never flow into a marine tank.
  • Impossible to overflow: the maximum level sensor is a hard stop, flow meters compare the plan against reality, and a double-cycle lock means the aquarium can never be gradually drained.
  • The whole sequence runs locally — an internet outage never interrupts a cycle or "finishes it blind".

Control and metering for every circuit

Plug all your aquarium's equipment into Oquari outlets — and from that moment you control every circuit from a schedule, the app or an automation. More importantly: each outlet's power draw is metered individually, in real time.

  • Lower electricity bills — see in black and white what the filter costs, what the heaters cost, and what the lighting costs. Daily and monthly charts with cost at your electricity rate per kWh show where the energy goes — and what to optimize.
  • Failures caught before they happen — Oquari learns each device's normal power draw. A pump that starts drawing more current signals a seizing impeller; a filter drawing less — an air lock; a heater drawing nothing — a burnout. You get a notification before the tank feels a thing.

Safety first

A controller that keeps an equipment failure from destroying your tank

Reef livestock is often worth more than all the equipment put together. That's why in Oquari, safeguards aren't an option in a menu — they're the foundation. They work at all times, even without a network, even without the app.

Heaters under fourfold guard

A stuck heater can cook a tank in a few hours. Oquari guards against it with four independent layers: temperature supervision from two separate sensors, an emergency power cutoff above the safety threshold, a lockout when the water level is too low, and room for a classic mechanical thermostat. When the sensors stop agreeing — heating shuts off by itself.

A top-off that knows when to stop

A runaway ATO floods your home or dilutes your reef. In Oquari, top-off has a per-cycle time limit, a daily volume limit, flow confirmation and a hard stop at the maximum level sensor. Exceeding a limit stops the pump and raises an alarm — resuming requires your decision.

Leaks detected before they become a problem

Leak sensors under the tank and in the cabinet detect water where it shouldn't be. The controller instantly stops top-off, dosing and water changes, closes the valves and raises the alarm: buzzer, LED, external siren and a phone notification.

230 V away from the water

All 230 V outlets and mains circuits are enclosed in a separate power module — away from saltwater and moisture. The control electronics and sensors run exclusively on safe low voltage. No more tangle of power strips and adapters under the tank.

Alarms work without the internet

Overheating, flooding, low water level — critical alarms work fully locally: buzzer, indicator light, an output for an external siren. The internet and cloud only add push and e-mail notifications — they are never a precondition for safety.

You're at work, on vacation, asleep — Oquari keeps watch and reports to your phone: push and e-mail via the oquari.com panel, and for Home Assistant users also as entities for your own automations. You decide what deserves a notification and what's just a log entry.

  • Critical alarms always work locally too — the siren, buzzer and LED need no internet.
  • Night quiet hours cover warnings and reports — never critical alarms.
  • Vacation mode raises vigilance and sends a daily summary: parameters, energy, feedings, water changes.
  • A history of 1000 events always at hand — with export.

How it works

The Oquari system consists of three elegant modules connected with a single cable. Set them up, plug them in, run the wizard — and your aquarium is under control. You never open the enclosures: every setting and every calibration is done from the app or the on-device panel.

The hub — brain of the system

Runs all the programs: temperature, lighting, top-off, water changes, dosing, CO2 and waves. Carries a full set of connectors for level sensors, flow meters, temperature sensors, lighting and pumps — plus a display with a rotary knob for on-the-spot control, no phone needed. Connects to your network via cable or Wi-Fi.

Smart power

Eight metered 230 V outlets and two special protected heater channels. Switch any outlet from a schedule, the app or an automation — while Oquari continuously meters each device's power draw. A filter losing performance, or a heater that stopped heating, gets detected before you'd ever notice it in the tank.

The probe module

The eyes and ears of your aquarium: pH, redox (ORP) and two independent conductivity measurements — from RO water to full marine salinity. Precise, isolated measuring circuits immune to interference, with calibration wizards that guide you step by step. The controller monitors electrode health and reminds you when it's time to calibrate or replace.

Start with Oquari Core and expand the system as you grow: the power module when you want outlets and heaters under control, the probe module when you get into water chemistry. Everything connects by itself — no configuration.

Temperature — heating and cooling

Two independent temperature sensors watch over the tank — when they disagree, heating stops and you get an alarm. A primary and a backup heater, day/night mode, and at the other end of the scale: smoothly controlled fans and a chiller.

Water changes and water management

Automatic water changes in micro-portions, ATO top-off with multi-layer safeguards, and supervision of the RO reserve tank with water purity monitoring (TDS) — the whole system watches the levels around the clock.

Dosing to the milliliter

Up to four dosing channels with simple calibration and doses split into portions. Spacing between liquids, daily limits, empty-container detection — with a heads-up warning: "container empty in ~5 days".

CO2 driven by pH measurement

The CO2 valve is guided by the water's actual pH, synchronized with the lighting — dosing starts before sunrise and ends before dusk. A hard lower pH limit protects your livestock regardless of the control loop.

Light like in nature

Up to four channels of smoothly dimmed lighting. Sunrise and sunset ramps, a midday break, moonlight following the real phases, a storm effect — and a power cap while new livestock acclimates.

Wave pumps and circulation

Constant flow, sine wave, pulses, random waves and tidal mode with alternating pump groups. Night mode calms the flow, and current sensors catch dry running before a pump burns out.

Feeding — one button

The FEED button, an app command or the auto feeder schedule: pumps pause, dosing waits, and after the set time everything returns to work on its own. In vacation mode the auto feeder follows its plan.

Energy and cost per outlet

Consumption metering for the whole aquarium and each outlet individually: instantaneous power, daily consumption, charts and cost at your electricity rate per kWh. Finally know what your reef really costs — and where to save.

Diagnostics that get ahead of failures

Oquari learns your devices' normal power draw and alerts you when something deviates from the norm: a clogged filter, a heater that isn't heating, a worn UV bulb, an aging pH electrode.

Sensors and expansion

Water levels, leak sensors, flow meters, a lid-open sensor, ambient temperature and humidity, light intensity — plus inputs for specialized sensors. The system grows with your tank.

Modes for every situation

Feeding, service (safe hands-on work) and vacation (an economical plan with heightened vigilance) — and after a power outage the controller restarts on its own, logs the event and returns to the program.

Alarms and notifications

Three event levels and channels to choose from: an on-device buzzer, LED, external siren, push and e-mail to your phone. Critical alarms always work locally; night quiet hours never silence them.

Home Assistant

Your aquarium appears in Home Assistant by itself

Oquari speaks Home Assistant's language from the very first boot. The controller announces itself via MQTT Discovery — no plugins, no YAML, no vendor cloud. Moments after connecting, an "Oquari" device appears in HA with a full set of ready-made entities: measurements, relays, pumps, dosing pumps and alarms.

  • Measurements with history for free — temperature, pH, ORP, salinity, levels, power and energy as sensors with HA charts. Zero configuration.
  • Control like any other entity — outlets and lighting as switch and light, dosing pumps as number, modes as select, feeding as button. An "Evening" scene can dim the living room and the tank at the same time.
  • Alarms in your automations — overheating, leaks, the ATO limit, an empty container as binary_sensor. Hook up notifications, flashing lights, or a text to your neighbor.
  • HA is the dashboard. The brain stays in Oquari. Logic and safeguards run on the controller — an HA server restart or a Raspberry failure makes no difference to your tank.

Frequently asked questions

Does Oquari require the internet?

No. All logic and all safeguards run locally on the controller. The internet adds convenience: remote viewing, phone notifications, updates.

Do I need Home Assistant?

No. Oquari is complete on its own — with a panel on the device, in your browser and at oquari.com. HA is an option for those who want the aquarium in their home automation.

Do I have to open the enclosure to change a setting?

Never. Every function, operating mode and calibration is set from the app or the panel — no jumpers, no screwdriver.

I already have a heater, pumps and a light — will they work with Oquari?

Yes. Oquari controls standard aquarium equipment: 230 V devices plug into the metered outlets, and controllable pumps and lighting connect to the dimmable outputs.

What happens during a power outage?

The controller logs the event, and when power returns it comes back up in a safe order and resumes the program. Top-off and dosing resume while respecting the daily limits.
